Brian Eno, English composer, music producer and rock musician. Co-founder of Roxy Music. A pioneer and master of ambient music. The creator of sounds known by each PC owner and multimedia installations presented all over the world. Three times Grammy award winner will visit Soundedit this year and present his most recent artistic project in Fabryka Sztuki!

Brian Eno worked with countless musicians and bands, including U2, Talking Heads, Devo, Ultravox, James, My Bloody Valentine, John Cale, Coldplay and Phil Collins. His music is complex, merging elements of progressive rock, progressive pop, avant-garde, electronica and experimental music.

His new album, “The Ship” was released on 29 April 2016. It’s Eno’s first solo record since the 2012 Grammy-nominated “LUX”. The artist claims that his new record is more like a musical novel than a conventional album. It’s also an experiment with a three-dimensional sound.

– On a musical level, I wanted to make a record of songs that didn’t rely on the normal underpinnings of rhythmic structure and chord progressions but which allowed voices to exist in their own space and time, like events in a landscape – says Brian Eno about his inspiration.

– One of the starting points was my fascination with the First World War, that extraordinary trans-cultural madness that arose out of a clash of hubris between empires. It followed immediately after the sinking of the Titanic, which to me is its analogue. The Titanic was the Unsinkable Ship, the apex of human technical power, set to be Man’s greatest triumph over nature. The First World War was the war of materiel, ‘over by Christmas’, set to be the triumph of Will and Steel over humanity – he adds.

Coinciding with album’s release, a series of Eno installations will be happening around the world at which you will be able to hear an alternative telling of “The Ship” in multi-channel three-dimensional sound installations. The impact of „The Ship” will surely be felt long after these installations are ended. It signals yet another cycle in Eno’s creative career.

– This album is a succession of interleaved stories. Some of them I know, some of them I’m discovering now in the making of them – says the British artist.

The installation will be presented at Łódzka Fabryka Sztuki (3 Tymienieckiego street) on 30 October (Sunday) at 5 P.M., as a part of the International Festival of Music Producers and Sound Designers “Soundedit”. The artist will be present at the event.

During the festival’s award ceremony (Klub Wytwórnia, October 29th) Brian Eno will receive “The Man with the Golden Ear” Award for Lifetime Achievement in Music Production. Prior to that, he’ll meet with the festival audience and share stories about his work.
